It’s always nice to see confirmation on your beliefs. I believe Fort Collins is a great place to live and 94% of my fellow Fort Collins residents believe the same way. I feel safe around Fort Collins and 97% felt the same way. The Coloradoan, the local newspaper, published the results of a survey done by the city of it’s residents. To see what else they had to say, you can read the rest of the article here.

The weather has been amazing. It’s like waking up to a spring morning. The last three days have been over 60 degrees. Yesterday, it was 68 and warm enough to be outside for a game of mini-golf or go-karts at Fort Fun. Today, it might actually reach 70! I’m sure it will get cold again, but in the meantime, I will enjoy every minute of it!

City Park is an 85 acre park on Mulberry between Taft Hill and Shields in Fort Collins.  There’s a golf course, a playground, tennis courts, ball fields, and a basketball court.  In the winter, the lake freezes and a small area is shovelled for ice skating.  We got there about 8 last night, skated for an hour or so, then went to CB&Potts for cheeseburgers.  The next day, I went back to take this video of the area so you could see what it’s like.

This is an activity that you can do at any time and doesn’t cost a dime.

CQ Press evaluated 397 cities across the United States with populations over 75,000. The study looks at reported crimes for murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and auto theft. Based on those reports, Fort Collins was ranked 97th. Fort Collins, while not perfectly safe, has a crime rate in which I feel relatively safe most of the time.

Ok, It’s not record setting cold. But Saturday, I put on a light winter jacket and went to dinner. When I walked out of the restaurant at 10 pm, the cold took my breath away. I couldn’t get to the car fast enough!

An artic cold front moved in and the temperatures have ranged between minus 15 at night and 20 degrees during the day. Hopefully this cold won’t last too long.

Two days after the snow, the sun came out. Before the snow had a chance to melt, I took this picture.  It was a beautiful day.  The snow was already starting to melt.

Yesterday was a typical day in our fall. It was 66 degrees. Sunny. I didn’t even need to button up my jacket or tie my scarf. This morning, I woke up to 20 degrees and snow.

This is the first time it has snowed this winter. The fall has been unusually dry and warm. It’s what we call an Indian Summer. It’s my favorite type of fall. It’s like summer, but at exactly the right temperature.

But I’ve been looking forward to the arrival of winter. The season where it’s ok to stay inside all day hiding under blankets and watching movies.

It’s not a blizzard with snow furiously falling. It’s the gentle type of snow. It’s been at it all day now, and there is barely an inch on the ground. With the warm weather, I’m sure the snow won’t last long. But I’ll run out in the morning and take a picture of the foothills which are stunning when covered with snow.
